Begin again

Hello all!

It’s been a while since I last wrote one of these. Yes, it’s totally my fault!

But instead of making excuses, I’d like to give you a brief update on what’s been going on over the last two years of relative social silence, and what we’ve been planning for the near future.

I’ve spent the last two years attending a school of supernatural ministry in Kent. I began the school just before releasing my second album, Jericho, and as well as it turning my life up-side-down, it has totally revolutionised my perspectives on who God is, who I thought I was, and who I am!

I learnt that part of knowing who you are centres around knowing what you love. I already knew that I loved Jesus, and I loved my family, but the surprising part was discovering just how much I love music.

I thought I was just making albums for the fun of it, and that one day I would get a ‘real job’, and settle down to a ‘boring’ life when the need for money kicked in. I didn’t realise that this really could be my job, and that I could actually be good at it!

This realisation was inspired by someone asking me to remember a moment in life when I felt completely alive and working to my full potential. Strange question maybe, but I challenge you to ask yourself the same thing. You may be surprised with what you come up with.

The moment I remembered was of standing on stage in a high school play. I can still feel the heat of the spotlights melting my make-up and the swish and scratch of the gaudy red dress against my legs. I can see the dust in the theatre air drift in and out of the spotlight’s beam and hear the drone of applause, muted by the ringing of my own heartbeat in my ears. It’s amazing how much detail you can cram into a memory!

It was one of those moments where you could literally ‘feel the love’ in the room. Sounds cheesy, but it’s true! Everyone involved was proud of themselves, and our loved ones in the audience mirrored our joy in the roar of their stinging palms.

It’s amazing to think that it only took seven years, a degree, and 2 albums for me to realise that this is actually what I wanted to do with my life!

So I guess I have to get to work!

I don’t really know what the long-term plan is, so I’m going to do what I know how to do, and seek out the advice of those wise sage’s of music and media.

I just want to say a big thank-you, to those who have believed in me, and who have journeyed with me this far! I promise you can expect to see a lot more ‘socialising’ from me from now on.

In the meantime, we’ll be looking for gigs, writing a load of masterpieces, and posting some more songs over the next few months, both originals and covers! So let me know your favourites, or if you have any ideas for a song you’d like to see written…

and watch this space! xx
